FPT handed over the Hoa Lac dormitory with 3,000 seats for Covid-19 quarantine

On May 13, 2021, in the context of a new Covid-19 resurgence alongside many complicated developments, FPT urgently handed over nearly 3,000 seats at FPT University and High School dormitory in Hoa Lac to support the quarantine effort.

On May 13, 2021, in the context of a new Covid-19 resurgence alongside many complicated developments, FPT urgently handed over nearly 3,000 seats at FPT University and High School dormitory in Hoa Lac to support the quarantine effort.

More than 70 officials, employees and teachers of FPT University assisted students transferring large amounts of property and furniture in a hurry. The storage space was quickly rearranged, while ensuring furnitures were to be taken care of and cleaned up for handover. During the process, FPT University still strictly adhered to the 5K principle and did not let the procedure affect the summer semester of 2021. Due to the careful preparation as well as the experience from the first wave, the work was carried out relatively smoothly.

On May 13, 2021, FPT handed over 5 buildings with a capacity of up to 3,000 people to Thach That District Military Command / Hanoi Capital Command - the standing body of the Steering Committee to receive, serve and maintain the quarantine area in the district. At the handover ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Cấn Xuân Trung - Deputy Commander/Military Command of Thach That District/Hanoi Capital Command shared his assessment: “The school actively informed students, and students packed up their personal belongings in the dormitories that were requisitioned as quarantine areas, and at the same time organized a thorough cleaning and handover with a high degree of unanimity.

Previously, on May 12, 2021, during the inspection of the preparation for the quarantine area, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee - Mr. Chu Xuan Dung highly appreciated the initiative and flexibility of the group for the spirit of FPT personnel including teachers, staff, and students as they united, agreed and shared the burden with the city. At the same time, Mr. Dung also praised FPT Hanoi's efforts in quick and timely preparation as directed.

An FPT representative shared: “FPT always strives to contribute and join hands in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic with the Government, medical staff and the to soon repel the pandemic, reaching towards a new and comprehensive normal life in Vietnam.

Previously, when the Covid-19 pandemic emerged in March 2020, the dormitory of FPT University was also requisitioned by Hanoi as a quarantine area for about 2,000 people. In an effort to support the community preventing the spread of Covid-19 in its early days, FPT also collaborated with the IT Department - Ministry of Health to launch a Covid-19 information page and develop a virtual assistant (Chatbot) that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically provide answers 24/7 for many people at the same time regarding the pandemic; FPT also contributed 20 billion VND for essential equipment, supporting the pandemic prevention in "hot spots" - the frontline against Covid-19. With such efforts, FPT was the only Vietnamese enterprise to behonored in the category of Enterprises that respond to Covid-19 most effectively (2020 Covid-19 Response Categories) at the Stevie® Awards.
