In Texas, wind power makes up 20% of the entire state’s electrical quota. Unfortunately, the 15 - 17/2 snowstorm had caused the complete freezing of 95% of their wind turbines. Additionally, aside from wind power, the other avenues of electricity (e.g. natural gas power) were also crippled, leaving 80% of Texas’ population in a total blackout. An even more dire knock-on effect of power loss is the water cut-off in many households, because of the inability for filtration plants to function. As a result, the quick and timely restoration of the wind turbines is practically of life-and-death important to a lot of citizens.
This world's Leading Energy Corporation, one of FPT Software’s major clients and the number-one supplier of wind power in Texas, also took a big hit with over 250 of their turbines not operational. Despite this, thanks to a sophisticated automatic warning system, they have managed to quickly sort out their hardware problems and restored power, which helped to avert considerable crises to the people of Texas.

Seven days before the catastrophe hit, FPT Software’s project team had perfected the warning system in the event that the turbines ceased to turn, along with quadrupling the program’s reporting and transmitting efficiency.
“Thanks to the quality of this warning system, we’ve managed to very quickly troubleshoot and repair our turbines to restore power. FPT Software’s project team should be proud of themselves for their part in saving so many people during this disaster. Who knows what would have happened had we not been able to restore our turbines in time?”, the world's Leading Energy Corporation’s project director said.
By 19/2, more than 100.000 Texans are still living in a blackout. However, they aren’t users of this world's Leading Energy Corporation’s services.
