FPT to assist the Ho Chi Minh City’s Urban Railways digital transformation

On February 25^th, 2021, HCMC Metro (deployed by the Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) and the HCMC Urban Railway Company 1 LLC) had entered into a partnership with FPT IS (a subsidiary of the FPT Corporation) to define a vision and chart out a long-term development course of a digital transformation processing the field of urban railway management. 

HCMC Metro is MAUR’s prime project with 8 routes through and encircling the city center, connecting all major areas

In an effort to alleviate congestion issues, Metro is shaping up to become the model of public transportation, and the future of HCMC’s traffic. HCMC Metro consists of 8 routes through and encircling the city center, that connect all of the main areas together, all within an underground circuit within the city limits. 

Within the scope of the partnership, FPT IS will suggest an infrastructure for E-government and Digital transformation for MAUR and HURC1 towards the development and construction of information technology system matching with Ho Chi Minh City’s orientation, deployed by the Information and Communication Department. At the same time, FPT IS will plan for Digital transformation for the period of 2021-2025 with digitalization applications about working procedures at MAUR and HURC1, looking forward to building Ho Chi Minh City a smart city by 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman and General Director of HURC1 said, the company expected that the experiences of FPT as a leading Technology enterprise will support management and administration activities at MAUR, and HURC1 will get comprehensive Digital transformation in order to be able to operate mainly on Digital environment.

Chairman of Members’ Council of FPT IS – Mr. Duong Trieu Dung shared: “This is a very new field even to Vietnam and FPT IS. We will invest manpower resources to develop the strengths of Big Data, AI, together with the combination of payment applications towards serving the community and Vietnam people”.

With the experiences gained through decades of building information technology infrastructure, products, comprehensive solutions on smart city development, FPT IS will invest its maximum manpower resources, intelligence, and the best experiences to meet the needs of MAUR and HURC1.

The application of technology and usage of digital data extensively in all activities will contribute to maximizing labor productivity, at the same time minimizing costs for fast and sustainable development.

Simultaneously, step by step enhancing the awareness about Digital transformation extensively, making digital transformation an organic part in every management activity of MAUR, HURC1 and bringing HCM city’s people a modern public transportation system which is safe, convenient, fast and environmentally friendly.
