The former CEO of a Japanese technology company worth 400 billion yen joins FPT

Mr. Toru Tanihara, the former CEO of SCSK (a reputable Japanese IT company with a revenue of up to 400 billion yen under the Sumitomo Group), has assumed the role of Chairman of FPT Japan since the beginning of April 2023.
During his three-year term, Mr. Toru Tanihara will lead the strategic technology services and digital transformation division of FPT Japan. He will also be in charge of the highest-level diplomatic relations of the company with customers and strategic partners.

The new Chairman of FPT Japan will focus on strengthening training and expanding knowledge in various fields to get a better understanding of customer needs, accelerate growth, and contribute to FPT Japan's revenue target of 1 billion dollars by 2027.
With 40 years of experience in the technology industry from SCSK and Sumitomo, he will focus on creating new business models, services, and products by combining existing resources with new knowledge. Mr. Tanihara expects to bring innovation in business mindset to FPT Japan in light of a world with many uncertainties, complexities, and ambiguities.
Mr. Toru Tanihara is a renowned business leader in the technology industry in Japan, with a reputation closely associated with Sumitomo Group - one of the four largest trading and investment conglomerates in Japan, and the SCSK company. He previously served as CEO, Advisor, and Board Member of the SCSK and a senior advisor to the Sumitomo Group. As of March 2021, Sumitomo Group recorded total assets of up to 73 billion dollars, with 75,000 employees operating in 65 countries worldwide.
