During the fifth National Forum on Developing Vietnam's Digital Technology Enterprises (VFTE), Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT Corporation, addressed the theme of "FPT's transition from power chip to semiconductor dream." Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa highlighted Vietnam's potential to emerge as the global hub for semiconductor technology. He emphasized that the thriving Electronics Industry in the country catalyzes the growth of microchips.

VFTE takes place at the Palace of Planning, Fairs, and Exhibitions in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province, on December 11, 2023. This year's agenda revolves around the theme "Creative Digital Applications for Advancing the Digital Economy - Catalyst for Economic Growth and Labor Productivity." VFTE is under the guidance of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and is jointly organized by VnExpress Newspaper. Notable attendees include Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, leaders from the MIC, Quang Ninh's government leaders, and representatives from various organizations and businesses.

As a keynote speaker of VFTE, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - CEO of FPT - gave a speech on "FPT's transition from power chip to semiconductor dream." Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa emphasized that microchips are the economy's lifeblood, given their integral role in all electronic devices.

FPT CEO, referencing CDI data, highlighted that the global Electronic Technology market is valued at over 3,454 billion USD in 2022 and is projected to exceed 4,986 billion USD by 2030. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Electronics industry is set to achieve a total export turnover of over 114 billion USD in 2022, securing the top position in the manufacturing and processing sectors and contributing to over 30% of the country's export turnover. He affirmed, "The robust growth of the electronics industry is directly linked to chip development. Therefore, the advancement of semiconductors must align closely with the progress of the electronics industry."

Furthermore, the FPT CEO underscored that as Vietnam actively pursues digital transformation, it must concurrently focus on advancing hardware and software capabilities while mastering core technologies such as semiconductors. Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa pointed out that technology businesses possess key advantages for thriving in the semiconductor industry, including open diplomatic policies, geopolitical benefits, and a pool of young and talented employees.

Addressing the question of where Vietnam should concentrate its investments in the semiconductor sector, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa outlines a three-phase roadmap. In the short term, the focus should be on design, packaging, and testing. In the medium term, the emphasis shifts to production. Finally, in the long term, the goal is to master core technology in the semiconductor sector.

In the captivating narrative of FPT's decade-long journey in chip development, the FPT CEO inspired Vietnamese tech companies to undertake research and surmount challenges in delivering chips and other "Make in Vietnam" products to the global stage. He expressed: "Hopefully, Vietnamese IT businesses will invest and collaborate to champion the chip-making policy, collectively contributing to the creation of new technological marvels".

During the Announcement and Awarding Ceremony of the "Make in Vietnam 2023" Digital Technology Product Award, the MIC bestowed honors upon "Made by FPT" products, services, and solutions. Notable "Make in Vietnam" award winners included FPT chip products, akaMES, Confidon, and FPT IDCheck. These accolades were part of the broader product and solution ecosystem showcased by FPT under the theme "Digital technology to create smart digital businesses" at the event.

Among the showcased products, the Chip products (Integrated Circuits) garnered significant attention from visitors at the FPT booth. In 2022, FPT Corporation inaugurated FPT Semiconductor Joint Stock Company (FPT Semiconductor), focusing on designing and manufacturing microchips. As of now, FPT Semiconductor has successfully transitioned its power chip (PMIC - Power Management IC) products from the research and development (R&D) to the mass production phase. The company has secured orders for 70 million chips in 2024 and 2025, with clients hailing from Taiwan (China), Korea, and Japan.

The smart production dispatch solution, akaMES, has earned its place among the top digital products for foreign markets. akaMES stands out as a comprehensive management software suite designed to enhance the operational flexibility of manufacturing businesses. This innovative solution slashes traditional paperwork by an impressive 90%, fulfills 100% of traceability requirements, and delivers substantial savings, including a 20% reduction in time and a 25% decrease in production operating costs for businesses.

Confidon products leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive the insurance industry's digital transformation. The product helps automate processes related to appraisal, compensation, and forecasting of customers leaving insurance companies. Currently deployed in Vietnam and the Philippines, Confidon handles an impressive volume of up to 5,000 daily transactions for appraisal and reimbursement processing contracts.

The anti-counterfeit digital authentication solution, FPT.IDCheck, seamlessly addresses the requirement for authenticating chip-embedded citizen identification card data (ID cards) and holds the leading market share in the Finance-Banking segment. This solution excels in automatically extracting information from ID cards and achieves a remarkable 100% detection rate for cases involving fake cards.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Vu Hong Chien, Director of FPT Quy Nhon Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application, delved into "Challenges of applying AI technology to transform business models flexibly." From defining flexible business models to illustrating practical applications, FPT experts demonstrated how businesses can effectively integrate AI to enhance their operations.

Mr. Vu Hong Chien highlighted that as businesses integrate AI into their models, safeguarding data and ensuring information security emerge as paramount concerns. FPT suggested that companies should prioritize investment in research for developing tailored AI solutions. Additionally, forming collaborations with reputable AI solution providers enables businesses to adapt their models flexibly, effectively minimizing investment costs and associated risks.

During the Forum, the Director of FPT Quy Nhon Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application stated, "We anticipate that in the future, businesses can collaborate with domestic corporations to implement digital technology, optimizing processes and enhancing productivity and efficiency within their enterprises."
