FPT Software offers free programming training for students

06/05/2024

FPT Software offers complimentary training for 50 students aged 13-15 with a keen interest in programming. This three-year course entails mentorship by seasoned software engineers. This marks the fifth installment of the Programming Talent Club (FCT Club) under FPT Software. Enrollment runs from May 13 to July 13. The curriculum for this training program is crafted by a team of seasoned experts in technology education.

The academic year is structured into four terms, commencing in September and concluding in May, in alignment with the academic calendar. Throughout this period, students will engage in online discussions with instructors to address any learning-related queries they may have.

The curriculum is integrated into the club's website, known as Computer Science World (CS World), which is designed akin to Disneyland. Each day, students embark on virtual expeditions to explore new realms of science. Throughout these journeys, instructors provide guidance and assistance to students. CS World encompasses subjects and subject groups that mirror the undergraduate level of Computer Science. These subjects are curated by the open-source community (OSSU) from MOOCs offered by esteemed universities such as Harvard and MIT. Even children who are not club members can utilize this program for self-study purposes.

In addition to CS World, students can engage in other courses and projects tailored to their individual needs, provided the content aligns with the club's objectives.

After a year of online instruction, students come together for a two-week gathering at the Codecation Hola Park campus in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. The summer camp's first phase will occur from June 10 to 22, with 45 students participating. The second phase will commence from July 8 to 20, with 50 students involved.

Participating in the summer camp offers learners the chance to enhance their physical, mental, emotional, and social skills and willpower potential. Groups of students engage in various activities, such as outdoor exercises, forest exploration, and camping, alongside programming IoT devices under the guidance of FPT Software engineers. Moreover, students can visit FPT Corporation headquarters and its member companies, attend seminars, and benefit from technology experts' insights.

This year's program also includes a visit to the Bat Trang craft village, where students can personally craft ceramic products. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to learn swimming and take part in the traditional swimming and diving competition of the FCT Summer Camp, hosted at the green and modern campus.

To gain acceptance, candidates must undergo a two-round selection process: Application and Interview. In the application round, candidates are required to submit an essay addressing the topic: "Why do I want to join FCT Club and Why should FCT Club accept me?" along with a self-shot video elaborating on the content of the essay. The video should be at most 5 minutes in length. The most impressive profiles will then proceed to the interview round, where each candidate will undergo an individual interview conducted by two judges. Additionally, FCT Club will host an online admission consultation workshop on June 4 on the FPT Software Programming Talent Club - FCT Club fan page - to support parents and students.

Established in 2020, the club aims to identify, nurture, and support young Vietnamese programming talents. For more information, please visit https://fct-club.com/about/.
