Mr. Truong Gia Binh (fourth from the left) participated in the discussion on ASEAN Youth: Technology, skills and the future of work.

He stated that FPT will become a pioneer in digital transformation with three specific actions. The first is to open digital transformation platforms and solutions, reducing the implementation time of organizations/businesses' digital transformation projects by 30-50%. The second is to transfer the FPT Digital Kaizen methodology to promote a simple digital transformation process, which does not require large investments. The third is to train 50,000 digital transformation experts for Vietnam.

"We will train them on new technologies such as AI, Blockchain etc. at FPT University or FUNiX Online University. We are also building an AI training center at Quy Nhon and believe that everything we commit to implement won't be in not only Vietnam but also Southeast Asia," said Binh.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications underlined the importance of Industry 4.0 in changing the day to day lives of people and called for increased training in both technology and soft skills to stay abreast of current trends.

Minister Hung highlighted the efforts made by ASEAN member states to co-ordinate with the WEF across a number of crucial aspects such as data policy, digital skills, e- payments, and cyber security, noting that these features will provide the foundation for the digital economy and digital ASEAN.

At the event, the World Economic Forum (WEF) launched their 2019 edition of the survey titled “ASEAN Youth: Technology, Skills and the Future of Work". WEF surveyed 56,000 ASEAN youth (aged 15- 35 years old). 5.7% of respondents reported having lost a job because their skills were no longer relevant or because technology displaced their job. Among those surveyed, 52.5% believed that they must upgrade their skills constantly.
