FPT among Top 10 largest private enterprises in Vietnam in 2018

The list of top 500 largest enterprises in Vietnam (VNR500) in 2018 was unveiled on December 5.

The top 10 largest private enterprises in Vietnam by revenue in 2018 are Vingroup JSC, Mobile World Investment Corporation, Vietnam Dairy Product JSC, DOJI Gold and Gems Group, Truong Hai Auto Corporation, Hoa Phat Group JSC, FPT Corporation, Vietjet Aviation JSC, Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank and Masan Group Corp.

This is the 12th consecutive year that the VNR500 has been announced to honor the achievements of the most successful enterprises in Vietnam. Vietnam Report also announced the top 500 largest private enterprises.

The list of top 500 largest enterprises showed that Vietnam’s private sector continued to post strong growth with the compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) among private firms rising significantly, reaching 21.8 percent in the 2014-2017 period.

The five sectors that contributed the most revenue to the 500 largest companies were finance (15.1 percent); food, beverages and cigarettes (14.3 percent); construction, building materials and real estate (13.9 percent); steel (11.7 percent) and telecommunications and information technology (9.2 percent). These five sectors accounted for 64.2 percent of total revenue and 75.5 percent of the net profit of the 500 enterprises on the list.

In the first 10 months, revenue and PBT were VND 18,367 billion and VND 3,156 billion, equal to 105% and 115% of the YTD target, achieved strong growth of 22% and 34% year on year (YoY), respectively, in like for like comparison (FPT Retail and Synnex FPT were regarded as associates for 10M2017). Compared to the actual number (no adjustment) of 10M2017, revenue is down -47%, and PBT is up 19% YoY.

Profit after tax (PAT) was VND 2,659 billion, up 19% YoY. PAT attributable to parent company’s shareholders was up 23% to VND 2,128 billion, and EPS was VND 3,474 up 23% YoY. Moreover, the PBT margin achieved 17.2%, equal to 2.3 times that of 10M2017.
