Strategically located in Da Nang Software Park No. 2, the FPT High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center spans nearly 3,000 m². Nestled in a prime seaside location, it inherits state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. The center is part of the comprehensive collaboration agreement between FPT and the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, signed in January 2025. This partnership sets the stage for joint investments in research, tech development, and workforce building in semiconductors and AI. FPT is proud to be the first tech player officially operating out of Software Park No. 2, a promising nucleus in Da Nang's emerging innovation ecosystem.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Committee Member of the City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee, said: "Guided by Resolution 57-NQ/TW, Da Nang considers science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as core breakthroughs, the key to driving socio-economic growth. On top of that, the National Assembly's Resolution 136/2024/QH15 introducing special development mechanisms for Da Nang paints a bold vision for the city's transformation into a modern special economic zone and a vital contributor to national growth."

Da Nang has set an ambitious target: by 2030, the digital economy will contribute 35–40% of its GRDP. Other strategic pillars, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, are expected to grow in parallel. The city aims to become a significant regional hub for digital technology and innovation, with AI and semiconductors forming the spearhead of this push into the future. By 2030, Da Nang hopes to have at least 5,000 skilled engineers in microchips and semiconductors — including 2,000 in design and 3,000 in packaging and testing. The city is pulling out all the stops to support R&D, foster talent, and introduce policies to attract tech players from Vietnam and abroad.
The opening of the FPT high-tech and semiconductor R&D Center, the first of its kind in Software Park No. 2, adds fresh momentum to Da Nang's innovation journey.
"We hope this center will draw top talent and generate cutting-edge products. The city pledges to offer the best conditions and continuously refine policies to become a high-tech and innovation powerhouse," Mr. Minh emphasized.
The Da Nang-based FPT R&D Center aims to be a tech hub, the birthplace of high-tech solutions proudly carrying the "Made by FPT – Make in Vietnam" label. The plan is to house 500 tech experts by 2025, with more to come. The center will focus entirely on homegrown innovations, with a goal of launching 10 new products each year to solve real-world challenges. Beyond being a research site, it's envisioned as a regional magnet for startups, a place to share experiences and spread entrepreneurial spirit throughout the tech community.

With talent at the heart of its semiconductor strategy, FPT sees people as Da Nang's strongest asset. The Corporation will continue to invest in R&D, provide scholarships, and open doors to job opportunities for students in semiconductor and AI majors from local training institutions. Alongside ongoing chip design work, FPT is diving into advanced packaging, and ATE (Automated Test Equipment) testing, both carried out in Da Nang's high-tech parks and duty-free zones.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT, noted: "We're proud to have stood alongside Da Nang for over 20 years, a city known for being livable and brimming with tech potential. Over the past five years, FPT has doubled down on new tech areas like AI and semiconductors. Today, we've built an ecosystem of over 200 "Made by FPT" products and services, reaching customers worldwide. In 2024, this ecosystem brought in 2,267 billion VND, a 31% jump year-over-year. Globally, we've grown to 80,000 employees, with 10,000 of them based right here in Da Nang."

Its 10,000 local employees accounted for 69% of Da Nang’s total software exports. FPT has also been a driving force in the city’s digital transformation, building the Da Nang Data Center - a smart city cornerstone - and rolling out Project 06 to streamline administrative reform and urban management.
