FPT provides free AI product for the community to experience

The 2019 Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day (AI4VN) themed “Promoting the development of artificial ecosystems” was held at Hanoi University of Technology from August 14 to 16, 2019. The event brought together hundreds of geniuses in the field of AI in Vietnam and abroad.  The event welcomed experts, professors, international AI research managers, as well as many CEOs, business managers, technology corporations and startups in the country.

FPT CTO Le Hong Viet, Deputy Head at FPT Technology Innovation Department Nguyen Ngoc Minh and FUNiX HCM Director Nguyen Thanh Lam joined the event as speakers.

Participating in the seminar on applying AI in Fintech, FPT CTO Le Hong Viet said that up to now, more than 500,000 people have used FPT's AI products. “However, I have to emphasize that you don't expect too much from AI and Chatbot. There is a term of "human-centric AI" - AI only gives support and can't replace humans," said he.

Mr. Viet said that the first difficulty in implementing AI in Vietnam was the thought on AI. "When it comes to AI, many people have the same idea that this technology can replace humans, cut labor force. But that's not the case. Giants in the world are using AI to help with the capabilities that people are short of. However, not all businesses are aware of the value of AI to pursue," said Viet.

The development of AI in Vietnam is also difficult due to shortage of experts. There are currently about 22,000 AI scientists globally, and most of them are in the US and China.

Regarding FPT's contribution to human resource training, Mr. Viet said: “FPT offers full PhD scholarships. FPT University also has such trending majors as AI and IoT, giving students internship opportunities in the corporation's major projects. All of FPT's AI products are open to the community and businesses for free. We share the data we have, aiming at a strong AI community for Vietnam. ”

For the problem of human resources for AI, Director of FUNiX HCM Nguyen Thanh Lam said: “I know that Hanoi University of Science and Technology just opened a new major called Artificial Intelligence with high entry requirements. This means that AI is being for excellent students. In my opinion, AI should be more massively developed so that everyone can use AI to support their work.”

Besides playing an important role in fintech, AI is applied in education, namely VioEdu system of FPT Technology Innovation Department. Speaking at the seminar on "Potential of AI in education", Deputy Head at FPT Technology Innovation Department Nguyen Ngoc Minh said that there are about 10,000 students studying in VioEdu system. The system helps find out strengths and weaknesses of students. Then it will provide pathways for each one to better their learning".

On the same day, FPT also brought to AI4VN exhibition the products of FPT.AI, VioEdu, xSeries - a unit specializing in FUNiX's technology courses, especially perform self-driving car techonology of Digital Race.
