Car manufactures are investing heavily in driverless vehicles. Tesla plans to launch driverless vehicle in 2018. Toyota will invest USD 1.2 billion to develop artificial intelligence in its lineup with the goal of bringing driverless cars into reality in 2020. According to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), revenue of the driverless vehicle market will reach about USD 42 billion by 2025 and USD 77 million by 2035. Driverless vehicles can account for 25% of global car sales by 2035.

For the development of driverless vehicles and trams, software plays the most important role which is comparable to the role of the brain, which ensures the car to operate. A modern car is embedded with 40 to 100 software. Ninety percent of a car's innovations are now in software. 100% of the vehicles will connect to Cloud. With this trend, driverless vehicles are no longer the inviolable realms of Ford, Daimler, Toyota, Nissan, etc., which gradually shifted into software companies. Technology companies have no history and experience in automobiles like Google, Tesla, Uber, Lyft, Apple, Baidu, etc. and IT service providers such as FPT Software are having great opportunities in this field.
