FPT Software has recently unveiled a 125 billion VND investment aimed at developing over 3,000 high-quality information and communication technology (ICT) professionals for the Japanese market, addressing the region's resource shortage. This funding will support scholarships for ICT students studying Japanese domestically, provide student exchange opportunities in Japan, and facilitate training programs to teach Japanese at universities, among other initiatives.
FPT Software announces 125 billion VND investment to train ICT engineers for the Japanese market.
From 2024 to 2026, FPT Software will enhance collaboration with renowned universities and Japanese language centers nationwide to provide Japanese training for ICT students. The goal is for students to obtain at least an N3 certificate upon graduation, ensuring they are well-prepared for job opportunities in Japan.
Currently, 15 universities and ICT training institutions are part of this initiative, with plans to expand the scale of cooperation and the number of participating schools. Each year, FPT Software aims to award over 500 scholarships to support emerging ICT talents at universities.
Mr. Do Van Khac, CEO of FPT Japan, emphasized: "The Japanese government is actively promoting investment in digital transformation to maintain its economic power. FPT Japan is seizing this opportunity by building a skilled workforce with strong expertise and proficiency in Japanese, positioning itself to handle more complex projects for major Japanese companies. Over the next five years, we anticipate a need for approximately 20,000 ICT engineers at our campuses in Vietnam and offices in Japan to fulfill the human resource demands of projects with Japanese clients."
FPT Software's investment offers ICT students a chance to quickly learn Japanese and leverage this skill to advance their careers. Participants in the program will engage in a professional working environment, working on high-profile projects alongside industry experts. Additionally, FPT Software will facilitate direct connections between ICT talent and major Japanese companies that are eager for skilled professionals.
In addition to enhancing Vietnam's ICT resources with foreign language skills, FPT Software collaborates with universities and industry institutes to design and develop training programs aligned with market needs. This partnership ensures that ICT professionals acquire the knowledge and skills to meet business demands effectively.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh, Human Resources Director of FPT Software, said: "Ten to fifteen years ago, FPT Software, along with other Vietnamese ICT companies in Japan, concentrated on human resource development, which significantly contributed to the success and standing of Vietnamese tech enterprises in Japan today. As the Japanese ICT market prepares for another phase of rapid growth, developing skilled talent has become even more urgent. Universities play a crucial role in partnering with businesses to streamline training programs and guide students effectively toward their career goals."
Seminar "Japan: A bright spot for ICT talent in the global context" in Hanoi.
To help students and universities stay ahead of market trends, FPT Software has actively engaged with universities and the broader ICT community. In September and October, FPT Software partnered with the Vietnam - Japan Digital Transformation Association (VADX Japan) to host a seminar series titled "Japan: A Bright Spot for ICT Talent in the Global Context" across three major cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. These events attracted over 300 participants, including company leaders from Rikkei, VTI, and FABBI, along with representatives from Japanese language schools and top ICT universities in Vietnam.
Numerous guests participated in the event series hosted by FPT Software and VADX in Danang.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, Japan is projected to face a shortfall of nearly 800,000 ICT engineers by 2030. In response, the Japanese government has introduced a range of preferential policies to attract high-quality foreign talent, particularly in the ICT sector. Recently, the Japanese House of Representatives' Justice Committee passed a bill to facilitate the settlement of highly skilled foreign workers, allowing them to bring their families for reunification and granting indefinite work permits. Vietnamese engineers, in particular, are well-positioned to benefit from these developments, with Japan prioritizing Vietnamese personnel for the Tokutei Ginou (Specific Skills) visa, which offers numerous benefits and long-term residency options.
