FPT Software helped digital transformation for Sumitomo Heavy Industries Vietnam

Being a factory in the heavy industries factor, SHI(V)s’ testing technology solution aims to improve labor productivity like Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), software and measuring equipment with bluetooth for quality control, automatic warehouse module, machine performance management software. One of the key visions in the development strategy of SHI(V) is the construction of “Connected Factories”, where all information technology (IT) systems are connected to a network in a shared platform. Data is stored and serves as a visualization and transparency for all KPIs in the factory, as well as being the background for artificial intelligence applications, in order to improve the quality and productivity for over 30%.

In order to push these visions, SHI(V) plans for digital transformation ideas, renovating the process, and renewing the employee mindset in the application of technology – digital tools. FPT Software is now recognized as an important partner of SHI(V) in realizing the target of digital transforming SHI(V) factory.

In July 2020, FPT Software started operation of the akaMES production management platform at Sumitomo Heavy Industries Vietnam. Specifically, deploying the digital transformation solution to allow warehouse managing, product traceability enhancing, monitoring and synchronizing the implementation of the production process in real time. “At the beginning of this year’s 3rd quarter, SHI(V) will develop additional quality management functions and in at the beginning of 4th quarter will establish automatic production scheduling function...”, said Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien, a specialist in FPT Software.

Currently, FPT Software solutions have become the daily equipment for more than 1,500 employees, from office technicians to machinery operators, boosting management quality, cost saving and delivery efficiency by SHI(V).

“FPT Software and we all have a common technology application, process digitization… to help make the production concise and optimized. Synchronization of information and development of visualize issues in the production process are to assist employees in handling quickly and efficiently any problem that comes up”, said Mr. Phan Anh Tuan, Director of SHI(V) Factory.

From the first factory in 2005, up until now, SHI(V) has successfully launched the 4th factory in Thang Long Industrial Park, Dong Anh, Hanoi, specializes in designing - manufacturing industrial electric motors, reducing machines, exporting to global market.

akaMES belongs to the ecosystem of applications by FPT to boost any firm or organization’s digital transformation, productivity; reduce cost, utilize resources and overcome upcoming obstacles. akaMES includes applications to manage information, tracking product’s origins in the factory, ranging from input to the final product and export to end-users. akaMES helps customers to solve 3 core problems in production: real-time production management; Integrated data and display KPIs to compute the cost of production over each transmission line.

akaMES is now being deployed to customers in the automobile and steel manufacturing sector in Vietnam, Japan, and Malaysia. In 2021, akaMES will expand to the wood and textile production market. There will be new features to add in the service such as: automatic production scheduling on Artificial Intelligence (AI); Data analysis of production and, material forecasting and sourcing planning.
