Hoping that Vietnam businessmen will also become as rich as Jews, FPT School of Business (FSB) has been applying constructivism – the quintessence of the Israeli education to MBA programs.
In the world, Jews (Israelis) are holding more than 30% of Nobel Prizes. Israel is the home country of geniuses namely Jesus, Karl Marx, Albert Einstein etc. They have influence on the development of the whole humanity. US statistics show that 1/3 of millionaires are Jewish while 20% of top professors also are Jewish.
According to researchers, it is the quintessence of the traditional education and the extraordinary courage to survive in the most severe circumstances that generate Jewish geniuses and the phenomenal growth of the Israeli economy.
Acknowledging this, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Gia Binh went to Israel to meet leading figures in the field of education and famous Nobel Prize winners to learn the essence of the education in this country. He brought constructivism with him back to Vietnam.

Constructivism - Transfer learning from remembering to constructing
Today, instructivism is widely used at schools. This is the popular method being applied in Vietnam: teachers lecture while students take notes. Under this method, knowledge is seen as stones, learners as baskets. Filling them with knowledge stones is the mission of teachers. Thus, people become passive, knowledge is collected and remembered, then not applied to your work and life.
Constructivism is the learning method based on the interaction between individuals’ experience and ideas. This theory suggests that knowledge will appear during the process of exploring the world. Applying it to teaching allows students to actively create profound knowledge for themselves through their active participation in lectures and interaction with other students. Trainers play role as instructors.
This learning and teaching method helps students understand and master the knowledge which they participate in constructing and discussing on the base of available knowledge. Trainers create favorable conditions, observe students and instruct them to build knowledge.
Constructivism - "Magic keyword" for success
The idea of applying constructivism came across when FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh joined the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos and had a conversation with George Soros, a Jewish-American billionaire. The story of constructivism -based education technology by 6 Jewish Nobel Prize winners awoke him: "It is the strength that has made today’s me and FPT".
Shortly thereafter, the FPT Chairman went to Israel to meet leading figures in the field of education and famous Nobel Prize winners to learn the essence of the education in this country. He returned with the statement: Constructivism would be the "magic keyword" to the success of FPT Corporation. This is the best way to make FPT become a "learning organization".
When applying constructivism, FSB under FPT University has many advantages with 20 years of problem-based learning, project-based learning, Flipped classroom, Hollywood Teaching and 2C-Games.
Debates among members, groups and with teachers are always encouraged. Thus, students are always excited with outdoor and indoor activities. The theory helps FSB’s training programs get practical with the participation of CEOs and chairmen of many companies as lecturers.
