During the FPT Leader Talk program on October 30, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien, Vice Chairman of the University Council at FPT University, highlighted that, as artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly influences learning and working environments, those who master AI will emerge as future leaders.
On October 30, FPT Corporation hosted the FPT Leader Talk - Journey to Your Future program at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) under the theme "Turning Potentiality into Ability." The event attracted nearly 1,300 students and over 15,000 online viewers. The program featured two distinguished alumni of HUST: Mr. Hoang Nam Tien, Vice Chairman of the University Council at FPT University, and Mr. Nguyen The An, AI Research Engineer at FPT Software AI Center and Valedictorian of HUST with a perfect GPA of 4.0/4.0. The speakers shared valuable insights on how to transform potential into talent, offering guidance on shaping personal development and career opportunities in the AI-driven future.
Opening the program, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien emphasized, "Each student at Bach Khoa holds immense potential for unlimited development." However, he pointed out that many young people have yet to fully realize their potential, often giving up after encountering failure. He believed this is one of the key reasons why nearly 90% of graduates end up leading ordinary lives in the AI era. Only the remaining 10% will stand out, building their capabilities through perseverance, effort, creativity, and a lifelong commitment to learning. "True learning is the foundation of success. Real success comes from genuine effort and hard work," Mr. Tien stated.
Mr. Hoang Nam Tien encouraged students to transform their learning approach, shifting from passively attending lectures to actively engaging in self-learning from teachers, classmates, friends, and especially AI. He emphasized that AI provides numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth, but its actual value lies in how it is applied effectively. "Forecasts predict that by 2023, nearly 40% of jobs worldwide could be impacted by AI. This does not mean that AI will eliminate job opportunities, but rather, those who know how to leverage AI will lead the way," he explained. "The generation that masters AI will be recognized and emerge as the future leaders in this technology-driven era."
Mr. Tien highlighted the substantial advantages that HUST students have in securing job opportunities within the technology industry, citing examples from FPT's workforce. He noted that more than 1,000 FPT employees are alumni of HUST, with nearly 200 of them currently holding leadership positions. He emphasized that HUST has long been a breeding ground for the aspirations of many generations of students, offering a robust foundation that helps them cultivate their passions and unlock their full potential. Mr. Tien stressed the importance of studying diligently, as the knowledge gained at HUST is highly applicable in real-world work environments, with 90% of the curriculum being directly transferable to professional roles. He also shared insights into the dynamic working environment at FPT, stating that the company offers vast opportunities for personal growth. At FPT, young people have the chance to engage in a global work environment, collaborate with leading experts, enhance their skills, and stay at the forefront of technological advancements, thereby paving the way for continued professional development.
During the Q&A session, speakers Hoang Nam Tien, Nguyen The An, and host Dao Viet Bach engaged with students, addressing questions about overcoming challenges, handling pressure, and exploring job opportunities at FPT. Sharing his experience as a former student, Mr. Nguyen The An offered valuable advice: "You should strike a balance between studying and working based on your abilities. Starting in the third year, you should consider joining a research lab or interning at a leading company. This will help you identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of alignment, guiding you towards a more focused and informed career path."
Host Dao Viet Bach, Head of the Recruitment and Talent Attraction Department at FPT Software Academy, highlighted the ongoing collaboration between FPT Corporation and HUST in the 4.0 technology training and research field. Since signing the agreement four years ago, this partnership has opened numerous opportunities for HUST students to engage in research projects and gain early exposure to professional working environments at FPT.
Guided by host Dao Viet Bach, the talk show unfolded in an open and engaging atmosphere, offering students a multi-dimensional perspective on potential, responsibility, and the journey of self-discovery in the AI era.
