FPT University Enrolls 1,000 Students in IC Design, Offering Scholarships Ranging from 50% to 100%

In 2024, FPT University is admitting 1,000 students specializing in Integrated Circuit (IC) Design. Scholarship opportunities range from 50% for the first two semesters to full coverage for the entire program.

The university will welcome its inaugural cohort in 2024, focusing on comprehensive training in IC design and fostering research within Vietnam's Semiconductor major.

Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the University Council at FPT University, said, "Semiconductors are a leapfrog opportunity to enhance Vietnam's national competitiveness. To prepare top-tier human resources for the global market, FPT University has launched a dedicated scholarship program tailored to this field."

As such, all applicants applying for the IC Design program at FPT University will automatically be eligible for scholarships ranging from 50% for the first two semesters to full coverage for the entire duration of their studies. Successful candidates can study at FPT University branches in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, or Can Tho.

FPT University has planned collaborations with multiple universities in the United States and Taiwan to develop programs, textbooks, and training standards. These countries are among the top four global markets for chips and semiconductors.

Students majoring in IC Design at FPT University are equipped with proficiency in two foreign languages and engage in a comprehensive personal development program.

Upon graduation, they are prepared for various positions in the semiconductor industry, including: Design, simulation, and verification of analog-digital circuits; Developing specification documents (spec) and advising on design processes; Managing and supervising wafer and chip manufacturing processes; Conducting chip testing and overseeing quality management in packaging and inspection of materials and components; Researching and developing materials and component structures; Developing circuit boards and core software (firmware) to support chip applications.

Furthermore, students have the opportunity to participate in short-term or post-graduate training courses in leading countries and regions known for semiconductor ICs. This prepares them for teaching and scientific research careers in this dynamic field.

FPT University students benefit from modern training programs, hands-on laboratory practice, and business internships that prepare them for global career opportunities.

FPT University will also facilitate the placement of IC students abroad, leveraging resources from FPT Semiconductor Joint Stock Company and other entities within the FPT Corporation across Vietnam and more than 30 countries. This initiative allows young talents to gain valuable learning experiences and contribute to the industry's comprehensive development.

Recently, 19 businesses and universities from Taiwan (China) visited FPT University to interview 60 students specializing in related fields. They offered advanced scholarships and employment opportunities abroad in the semiconductor sector.

In May 2024, FPT University launched the Center for Training and Exporting Semiconductor Human Resources. The center aims to collaborate with partners seeking microchip expertise and train industry professionals. This initiative creates favorable conditions for students majoring in IC Design at FPT University, enhancing their opportunities for study, internships, and professional placements overseas.
