FPT University honored by Coursera for outstanding achievement in AI innovation

At the 13th Annual Coursera Conference recently held in Las Vegas (USA), FPT University was recognized as a partner with outstanding achievements in innovation and application of artificial intelligence (AI), honoring institutions with exceptional initiatives in teaching and learning.

According to Coursera, this award category celebrates institutions that excel in leveraging AI tools to develop creative, personalized, and high-impact learning programs. FPT University is among the few institutions in the region to receive this honor, alongside other prestigious international partners.

According to Coursera, the award is evaluated based on five key criteria: vision, impact, engagement, scalability, and inspiration. FPT University has made remarkable achievements in all five areas.

In terms of vision, the university has proactively embraced AI and digital tools to create breakthrough learning journeys for students. Regarding impact, its initiatives have gone beyond pilot projects, generating tangible change, demonstrated through the growing participation of students and lecturers in AI learning and clear improvements in teaching outcomes.

FPT University also stands out in engagement, having built an inspiring learning environment that encourages students to stay connected and pursue their goals persistently. In scalability, the university has gone beyond small-scale experiments, integrating AI into hundreds of courses and positioning it as a key pillar in its human resource development strategy. Finally, the university has been highly commended for its inspirational efforts, motivating both students and faculty to continuously learn, foster innovation, and contribute to a sustainable learning culture.

Currently, AI has been integrated into approximately 140 courses at FPT University, accounting for 30% of the total undergraduate curriculum. As a result, around 35% of students each semester are exposed to and practice AI within their core courses. Not only students but also staff and lecturers are encouraged to use AI tools to optimize their work, save time, and enhance productivity. In the 2024–2025 academic year alone, more than 1,200 faculty and staff members at FPT University completed at least one AI course on Coursera; over 100 AI courses were directly utilized by lecturers in their teaching programs.

In addition to using available courses on Coursera, FPT University has also developed internal AI courses and leveraged Coursera as a supporting platform for implementing the “Engineer 57” program. This program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to become a strategic reserve force for Vietnam’s national digital transformation — a major goal as the country advances into a new era of growth.

We hope that regionally adjusted pricing policies and new trial experiences will make it easier for Vietnamese learners to access our global learning resources.”

In recent years, FPT University has implemented Coursera in its digital transformation of education and training, significantly enhancing students’ self-learning capabilities and their ability to engage with global academic programs across diverse disciplines.

For three consecutive years, FPT University has been recognized by Coursera in multiple award categories: Bold Innovator – Faculty Adoption of Online Learning (2022), Campus Transformation Outstanding Achievement Award (2023), and Maximizing Impact Award (2024).

At FPT University, each student completes around 20% of their learning content through Coursera, while each faculty and staff member completes at least 35 hours of online learning annually. The university also encourages lecturers to develop online courses, conduct technology research, and participate in digital training projects to keep pace with the evolving demands of education in the age of artificial intelligence.

By proactively implementing and expanding AI applications, FPT University has created a diverse, optimized, and globally aligned learning experience, contributing to the preparation of high-quality human resources for Vietnam’s digital transformation goals.
