Three decades of persistently cultivating the aspiration toward a mighty nation

More than a story of knowledge dissemination and the dream of innovation, the two-decade journey of FPT Education initiates an entirely new education approach in Vietnam - vocational training, viewing learners as active agents, creating an experiential learning environment, and improving learners' physical and mental wellness.

From aspirations to actions

Since the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists, the application of information technology (IT) in several fields was put concentration on by the State. In the period of economic innovation, IT policies were emphasized and concretized in considerable resolutions and decisions of the Party and Government. The movements also helped gradually raise the awareness of the whole society on the significance of IT.

In the 90s, a qualified workforce to meet the needs of IT development was at a premium. Only a few universities had IT faculties in the whole country. Meanwhile, FPT's leaders started discussing the short-term orientations of the Corporation, opening up a new direction: software exports. For the sake of FPT and the software export industry, FPT needed programmers and engineers of high quality. So, IT training is a must. In 1999, FPT established a network of international programming training centers named FPT Aptech. The establishment marked a new education approach in Vietnam that FPT initiated.

From informatics training centers launched in the early 90s to FPT Aptech - The International Programmer Training Center (1999) and FPT Arena - The Multimedia Training Center (2004), those were all ahead of the trends in information technology, software development, and digital content industry in Vietnam. FPT made the "international programmers" a trendy career orientation, vibrantly accelerating Vietnam's software industry in the early 2000s. Shortly, it became such a phenomenon for the technology community and society. In 2006, FPT started with higher education. As the first university established by a private enterprise, FPT University also initiated a new training approach in Vietnam: "vocational university - the university of the Internet era." Following the popularization of Informatics and Technology for Vietnamese people, Vietnam's first online university - FUNiX, was born in 2015, leading the Edtech trends that combined technology and educational theories in an open environment.

As the first university established by a private enterprise, FPT University also initiated a new training approach in Vietnam: "vocational university - the university of the Internet era."

Building a comprehensive educational ecosystem

As part of Uncle Ho's well-known quotes, whether the Vietnamese people can step up to the glory to compete with the great powers of the five continents depends on Vietnamese adolescents' education. With good academic performance, Vietnamese youth in rural and urban areas,  ordinary kids or disadvantaged children, the Kinh or other 53 ethnic groups will have equal opportunities to glorify our nation. In other words, education is the only way to realize the millennial aspiration of a mighty and prosperous Vietnam. With a deep faith in the significant role of education, FPT has actively strived to turn it into practical and specific actions.

Recognizing the shift to high-quality private education and the significant needs for the IT industry, FPT has continuously expanded its wide-ranging educational ecosystem covering all levels with diverse majors and strengthened its presence nationwide. FPT Education is the only educational institution in Vietnam offering a wide range of programs from primary education to postgraduate study, international alliances, and student exchange. 

FPT Education has now surpassed the milestone of more than 100.000 full-time equivalent students, becoming a Mega-scale educational organization.

A generation of global citizens reaching out to the world with happy hearts

To become a globally successful citizen, every learner should be happy. Happiness arises from being fully prepared regarding physical energy, life skills, and a progressive mindset before going abroad. FPT Education's students are well-trained and equipped with comprehensive curriculums. Notable subjects can be mentioned as foreign languages, STEM, technology, extensive personal development programs (PDP) in line with 21st-century skillset standards, and several subjects that educate students on Vietnamese cultural identity.

The initial importance of owning "the world citizen passport" is the world language. Therefore, since its establishment in 2006, FPT University has prescribed English as a compulsory language in training. A one-year English course is required for every student. Besides, all classes and academic subjects are delivered in English. It is a crucial point to help FPT students gain confidence in seizing global opportunities and find it more easily to communicate in the global work environment. This principle was maintained when launching the FPT High School system in 2013. FPT students, from elementary to high school, learn with up-to-date English textbooks imported from abroad to keep up with the growth of knowledge. The syllabuses are of service to promote critical thinking and creativity. Tran Viet Dong, a K12 alumnus of FPT University, who is currently a back-end engineer at TikTok in Singapore, said that the curriculum written in English and the course's practicality laid him the firm foundation to get to international job opportunities. Furthermore, his adaptability allowed him to have differentiated, valuable experiences at multinational technology corporations.

The practice of positivity, emotion self-regulation, and the spirit of willingness to take on new challenges, with the motto "dare to think - dare to do - dare to take responsibility,"... are also paid special attention through the PDP program. Besides, Vovinam and National Musical Instruments remind students of national identities. Martial arts and music are forms of education to bring them a joyful school life and enhance their well-being. They also give students wings to step out into the world with national values reflected in their personalities.

One of the traditional values of the Vietnamese people is the promotion of learning. Studiousness, equal opportunities, and life-changing education are paramount to them. From the first steps of the journey to the world, FPT has nurtured hundreds of thousands of learners. Vietnamese intellectuals have grown up, opened up an ambitious future, explored new values, and contributed to increasing the knowledge of mankind.
