Applying AI, FPT Students Compete in Scientific Research

13/08/2025

A total of 62 scientific research projects from FPT students and students from universities in Vietnam and the Philippines have advanced to the final round of ResFes 2025, held on August 15 at FPT University AI Quy Nhon. Notably, all projects apply Artificial Intelligence (AI), reflecting the students’ ability to stay ahead of technological trends and their innovative, practical approach to research.

On August 15, the final round of ResFes 2025 – the annual scientific research competition for students organized by FPT Education – will take place at FPT University AI Quy Nhon, Gia Lai Province. Sixty-two research projects from students of FPT University, University of Law – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, College of Teacher Education – The University of Mindanao, and Northeastern Mindanao State University (Philippines) will compete for top honors.

The research projects at ResFes 2025 are categorized into five subcommittees: Information Technology, Economics & Business Administration, Multimedia Communication, Languages, and Digital Art & Design. Particularly, this year’s competition highlights the integration of AI in all research projects.

Some studies leverage artificial intelligence as a key tool to develop new perspectives in scientific research, such as speech emotion recognition, financial fraud detection, disease diagnosis, and air quality forecasting. Others focus on addressing local issues, including smart tourism development and agricultural production optimization through AI applications.

The finalists’ projects have been researched and developed over approximately five months by students from FPT and other universities in Vietnam and the Philippines. With the guidance of lecturers and the support of AI tools, all projects demonstrate proactive engagement, fresh perspectives, and innovative, practical solutions from young researchers.

During the final round, the teams will present and defend their research before specialized judges from the five subcommittees. This is also an opportunity for students who aspire to pursue a scientific research path to enhance their knowledge, skills, and experience through interaction with reputable experts in IT, economics, communication, languages, and digital design. Moreover, the competition aims to nurture a passion for research and encourage FPT students and peers from other universities to actively participate in developing the scientific research movement.

In addition to the academic competition, finalists of ResFes 2025 will have the chance to meet and interact with Vu Thien Phuong, a renowned digital content creator behind viral music videos of popular Vietnamese artists and creative global brand campaigns, during the opening session. On the morning of August 16, contestants will also visit and learn at the Quy Nhon Science Discovery Center, an exciting experience within the event’s framework.

ResFes is an annual scientific research competition organized by FPT Education, providing a platform for students both within and outside the FPT system to practice research skills and apply technology in advancing scientific inquiry among youth.

Keeping pace with technological trends and actively implementing Vietnam’s key national development strategies – including Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation – FPT Education has been actively integrating technology across all educational levels, from K-12 to higher education. Notably, 100% of FPT K-12 students are taught to use and develop AI tools, while college and university students study specialized programs in AI. These initiatives, together with academic playgrounds like ResFes, help students gain early exposure to technology and develop internationally aligned scientific research capabilities.
