FPT IS Completes Its Digital Authentication Ecosystem with Chip-Based Citizen ID Solution

FPT Information System Company (FPT IS - a subsidiary of FPT) has just signed a cooperation with the Research and Application Center for Resident Data (RAR) - Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order (C06, Ministry of Public Security). In particular, it is ready to provide authentication services for chip-based citizen ID cards with FPT.IDCheck - the anti-counterfeiting authentication solution. FPT IS is one of the few enterprises with the highest capacity and legal facilities to provide such solutions and services to customers.

It is part of the cooperation agreement between FPT IS and C06 to facilitate the company to participate in the project "Development of data application on population, identification and electronic authentication for national digital transformation in the 2022 - 2025 period, with the vision to 2030" under the Prime Minister's Decision 06/QD-TTg dated 06/01/2022.

Specifically, RAR (C06 - Ministry of Public Security) provides a data platform to authenticate chip-based citizen ID cards in cooperation with FPT IS in implementing the FPT.IDCheck solution on a national scale. With the application of the product, the two parties expect that the electronic authentication of chip-based citizen ID cards will be the most precise, minimizing risks in forging digital authentication, serving socio-economic development, and for the people's benefit.

Currently, more than 70 million chip-based citizen ID cards have been issued in Vietnam. Those are identification devices and keys to access citizen information in the national database system, allowing users to access various services that require a wide range of personal documents. Unfortunately, cases of forgery and fraud have also arisen and become increasingly sophisticated, significantly affecting the interests of individuals and businesses.

Especially in significant or high-risk transactions such as registration of consumer loans, money transfers, withdrawals, registration of issuance of digital certificates, and signing of electronic contracts..., the accurate identification of transaction participants is vital. However, according to FPT IS's research, AI technology used to identify authentication has some critical shortcomings. Meanwhile, the forms of ID card forgery are more and more sophisticated, with card blanks and printing methods that are entirely the same. For a long time, the solution has been to use a large number of staff work hours for manual appraisal and inspection, which costs a lot of money and time, and reduces the capacity to meet customer needs.

In the face of those shortcomings, FPT has soon studied the ecosystem of anti-counterfeiting authentication solutions to solve this problem, including FPT.IDCheck. The product is a perfect combination of chip-based ID authentication service and AI anti-forgery authentication technology of International standard (ISO-30107) researched and developed by FPT IS on the Ministry of Public Security data platform.
