FPT - Petro South Joint Venture Consults Digital Transformation for Vietsovpetro

Recently, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the Vietnam-Russia joint venture Vietsovpetro, in collaboration with the consortium of FPT - Petro South, organized a ceremony to kick off the project of comprehensive strategic consulting on digital transformation and information technology system development.

On the side of the Russia-Vietnam Joint Venture - Vietsovpetro, there were present Mr. Vu Mai Khanh, Deputy Authorized General Director; Mr. Saraev O.P - First Deputy General Director; Mr. Tran Quoc Thang - Deputy General Director of Science and Technology - Deputy Head of Vietsovpetro's Digital Transformation Steering Committee; along with representatives from the General Director's Office, social-political organizations, and officers in charge of digital transformation from Vietsovpetro's member corporations. The event was also connected online with the spokespersons of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam or PVN) and Zarubezhneft Joint Stock Company.

Representatives from the consortium of FPT - Petro South, the consulting partner for digital transformation, included Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - CEO of FPT Corporation; Mr. Tran Huy Bao Giang - CEO of FPT Digital; and Ms. Nguyen Huyen Linh - CEO of Petro South, along with experts from the consulting partner.

Clearly understanding the benefits that digital transformation can bring, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has identified digital transformation within the association as a mandatory task to increase productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness. Implementing the missions of the 54th joint venture between Vietnam and Russia, Vietsovpetro, after checking the bidding and selecting consulting contractors process, has signed contract No. 0282/23/T-N5/CNTT1-FPTPETROSOUTH with the consortium of FPT - PetroSouth on March 24, 2023.

In his directive speech at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Quoc Lam, Head of the Office of PetroVietnam, evaluated the project as an essential step in the "Digital Transformation Roadmap at Vietsovpetro" as approved at the 54th and 55th joint venture councils. He noted that the level of "digital maturity" at Vietsovpetro is very high within the digital transformation ecosystem of PetroVietnam. In the future, Vietsovpetro will succeed in revitalizing its business development model toward sustainable development.

The Head expects that the leadership of Vietsovpetro will actively participate in directing and inspecting the project, leveraging the experience from the contractors to create a digital transformation ecosystem that connects all departments of Vietsovpetro and aligns with PVN's system. In addition, PetroVietnam also emphasizes the need to develop digital culture and communication content in the roadmap of the Digital Transformation Project at Vietsovpetro.

In line with the direction of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, in recent years, Vietsovpetro has placed unique emphases on digital transformation, corporate culture, and human resource developments to complement its production and business activities cohesively and scientifically. He noted that the development of a digital transformation strategy and the IT system should proceed in parallel with business activities and the IT solutions development that meet the production needs within the framework of the approved contents by the Joint Council of the two parties. In addition, Vietsovpetro needs to establish an internal survey process to unify the direction, guiding principles, and allocation of internal resources to coordinate effectively and implement the project tasks on schedule.

With similarities, and the practical experience that FPT has accumulated through digital transformation consulting projects in critical sectors, such as oil and gas, energy, electricity, and internal digital transformation at FPT itself, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa is confident that the project will achieve resounding success, becoming a prominent example in Vietnam's oil and gas industry, and transforming Vietsovpetro into a digital enterprise under the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group.

The conference also heard from experts from the Digital Transformation consulting partner - FPT-Petro South Consortium, who presented the actual project processes, coordination procedures, and organizational charts, as well as information related to the overall progress and personnel involved in the "Overall Strategic Consultation on Digital Transformation and Information Technology System Development (IT Master Plan) of Vietsovpetro" project.

Mr. Le Hung Cuong, Deputy CEO of FPT Digital, presented the project's overall progress, which has been implemented over approximately nine months with four main milestones. The first phase is the project initiation. He second phase is the assessment of Vietsovpetro's current status and digital capability/development capacity, including evaluating the trends/results of digital transformation in the operations of upstream Oil and Gas companies. The third phase is the development of a vision and roadmap/digital transformation program for Vietsovpetro. And the fourth phase is the progress of an IT system development plan (IT-Master Plan) to meet Vietsovpetro's digital transformation roadmap.

At the same time, the FPT experts also outlined specifically the project's general processes, such as the survey process, document approval process, change management process, and issue acceptance and resolution process. Attendees at the project kickoff ceremony also contributed their opinions and exchanged experiences to ensure the effective and timely organization and implementation of the project.
