FPT Telecom pioneers in providing Dual-band Wi-Fi modem to internet users

On Jan. 4, 2018, FPT Telecom became the first telecommunication provider in Vietnam to offer the next-generation Wi-Fi Modem - Dual-band Wi-Fi modem that utilizes an 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi standard, which supports MU-MIMO to all new FTTH subscribers. The service is available from January 2018 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, all new FTTH subscribers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will be equipped with dual band 802.11ac Wave 2 modem which supports MU-MIMO and works in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency bands. With the new device, customers will have the opportunity to enjoy features of fiber-optic internet such as faster speed, more stable signal, almost no interference when many users and devices operate at the same time, even working online, streaming 4K content and playing games online. All new lines of smartphones, laptops, and tablets are equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi, this modem will help customers maximize the performance of their devices.

Prices for Internet services will not be adjusted, the cost of materials will be determined for each service package.

With 802.11ac Wifi which works in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency bands and supports up to 160 MHz channel, the AC Wave 2 Wi-Fi modem supporting MU-MIM is highly resistant to interference, improves the data transfer rate between the modem and the terminals, which also support this standard namely Apple: Iphone 6s, Ipad Air 2 or higher, Samsung: Galaxy S7, Note 5 or higher. Speed is also another feature. A 2x2 802.11 ac allows a theoretical max of 867Mbps, on the 5 GHz frequency, three times faster than previous wireless N speeds. The latest 802.11 standard allows a maximum of 8x8 antenna, 80+80/ 160 Mhz, bringing a possible speed of 6.77Gbps, 11.5 times faster than 802.11n. This will help business customers in particular and Internet users in general to convert apps to computing platform and IoT.

In addition, that antennas are hidden inside the device itself, but still ensure maximum performance helps prevent breakage besides fully satisfying the aesthetics. This is a remarkable advantage compared to dual-band modems with multiple external antennas on the market today.
