FPT Chairman attends 2018 WEF in Davos

FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh joined a Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue to attend the 48th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland lasting from Jan 23 to 26, 2018.

FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh joined a Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue to attend the 48th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland lasting from Jan 23 to 26, 2018.

On the side-lines of the 2018 World Economic Forum, FPT will also have one-on-one meetings with senior leaders from 20 giants in the world in technology, aircraft manufacturing, energy, insurance, IT to discuss cooperation opportunities in smart factory, applications of the digital technologies in insurance and health etc.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh, VNPT General Director Pham Duc Long,  General Director of Viettel Corporation Nguyen Manh Hung had a meeting with leaders of Qualcomm and discussed the action plan for Industry 4.0.

On January 23, Mr Truong Gia Binh met with the leaders of giants such as HP, UPS, Allianz, SK Holdings etc.

The meeting over cloud computing with Ms Ana Pinczuk, senior vice president and general manager of HPE Pointnext Services - one of Silicon Valley's most powerful women is considered one of the most promising ones.

Then, FPT had a talk with Mr. Jim Barber, a member of the UPS Management Committee, a global leader in logistics with revenue standing at USD61 billion in 2016, to expand their comprehensive cooperation in digital transformation. Earlier, in May 2017, FPT signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US’s United Parcel Service (UPS) during Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to the US.

FPT and SK Holding discussed the opportunities for cooperation in the field of smart factories based on Siemens' GE Predix platform. Currently, FPT is the regional partner of General Electric (GE) in the field of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

According to FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh, who has participated in the World Economic Forum for seven consecutive year, "WEF gathers enterprises playing important roles in the field of technology and business. Partnering with these companies, Vietnam in general and FPT in particular will have a chance to break through, making Vietnam's rank move up in terms of technology and economic indicators. At Davos 2017 we had the opportunity to meet and discuss opportunities for cooperation in digital transformation, AI and IoT with about 50 leading enterprises in many fields such as technology, energy, aircraft manufacturing, finance and banking, and 20 of them have become FPT's customers and partners.”

This year’s meeting in the snow-capped Alpine town focused on the theme of “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World". “Creating a shared future in a fractured world requires addressing issues on the global agenda in a holistic, interconnected and future-oriented way,” said Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF.

WEF has provided FPT with opportunities to approach and promote strategic and large scale cooperation with major partners and customers such as UPS, HP, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Airbus and Deutsche Bank. One of the important agreements is that FPT Software will supply some 500 professional software programmers to develop solutions for the increase of business performance in the aviation industry based on Skywise platform.
