Signing the biggest overseas ERP contract for Vietnam

On April 7, the contract signing ceremony for design, supply, instruction and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning/Enterprise Asset Management with Gas Transmission Company in Bangladesh (GTLC) took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The signing ceremony was attended by Bangladesh Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam in Bangladesh, Deputy Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Chairman of PetroBangla, representive of World Bank and nearly 90 customers, partners and local TV channels.

With a total value of 9.1 million USD, this is the largest ERP contract to date to be signed by a Vietnamese company in an overseas market. This is the company's biggest project in Bangladesh in recent years. FPT IS has succeeded against a number of international competitors to win this bid, including major global corporations and leading providers from India. Under the plan, the project will be implemented within 18 months, starting in April 2016 for all GTCL’s member companies throughout Bangladesh.. The FPT IS implementation of an ERP/EAM will help Bangladesh to ensure national energy security and improve the management and maintenance capability for the nationwide gas pipeline network.

"GTCL is the first Bangladesh company in energy industry to implement the whole ERP/EAM. I hope that FPT IS along with GTCL will successfully launch this system," PetroBangla Istiaque Ahmad, Chairman of PetroBangla stated at the ceremony.

He thought that the resources in the country were not being used efficiently. Therefore, this solution needed to be replicated for energy and natural resources industry in Bangladesh.

"After completing IT systems, then many other foreign companies can return home. Unlike them, after deploying the project successfully, FPT will stay with you. FPT considers this place as our second home to live, work and do business. We are always ready to share with all of your difficulties”, affirmed Mr. Do Cao Bao, Deputy General Director of FPT.

 The project sees FPT IS take its first step into the Utilities industry in South Asia and other foreign marketplaces. After over 2 years exploring South Asia, FPT IS has won three contracts. In 2014 and 2015, FPT IS was chosen to deliver a project for the Tax Department of Bangladesh with a total value of USD 33.6 million and BITAX worth USD6.6 million.

ERP is one of typical areas by FPT IS. Over the years, the company has implemented ERP for many large businesses and organizations in Vietnam such as the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, FPT Corporation, Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex), Pomina, Prime Group, Thang Long Cement, Vingroup, Vinamilk, Dong Tam Group, Vietsov Petro, Trung Nguyen Group, Anova Group, Big C, SMC Trading Investment Joint Stock company etc.
